Mira is the parish seat of the municipality of Mira, in the district of Coimbra. It covers 62.57 km² and has 6,958 inhabitants (2021 census). Its heritage includes the Igreja Paroquial de Mira (Parish Church), the Pelourinho (pillory), the Ermida de São Sebastião (hermitage), the water mills of Lagoa, Fazendeira, Areia and Arraial, the Quinta da Lagoa, the Lagoa de Mira and the Parque de Vila Caia, all surrounded by national forests.
