Paredes is located in the District of Porto, in the heart of Entre-Douro-e-Minho, amid a landscape of green hills dotted with country estates and woodworking workshops. The Municipality has its roots in the ancient territory of Aguiar de Sousa, from which it inherited the royal charter granted in 1269, and its current municipal structure was defined in 1836. Over the centuries, the tradition of woodworking became so deeply rooted that Paredes has become a national benchmark in the furniture industry.
