Maia is located in the District of Porto, to the north of the city, spreading across a landscape that balances consolidated urban areas with stretches still shaped by Atlantic rurality. The Municipality brings together a mosaic of identities, from the recent housing developments of Cidade da Maia to the quieter villages of São Pedro Fins and Vila Nova da Telha. Its proximity to Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro, which stands within its territory, makes Maia a point of arrival and departure for the whole country, without that erasing the distinct character of its Parishes.
