Caminha occupies the far northwest of Portugal, at the mouth of the river Minho, facing Galicia. The territory stretches between the Atlantic coast and the Serra de Arga, with river, sea and mountain landscapes layered within a narrow strip. The historic town preserves one of the best-kept medieval squares in the Minho, with the Torre do Relógio, the Casa da Misericórdia and the sixteenth-century Mother Church, built in Manueline and late Gothic style.
