Sociedade Filarmónica de Vilar Chão is a Portuguese wind band with a long tradition, having been founded around 1830. Throughout its history, it has kept alive the practice of wind and percussion music characteristic of Portuguese filarmónicas.
Currently conducted by maestro Eduardo Carvalho, the band takes an active part in regional and national events, appearing at popular festivals, village fairs and ceremonies where filarmónica music is an essential part of the celebration.
