biography
Os Quatro e Meia are a band from Coimbra founded on 25 May 2013, following a university show at the Teatro Académico Gil Vicente. The members met in Coimbra and had all been part of the university's academic tuna ensembles. There are six of them: Tiago Nogueira, Ricardo Liz Almeida, João Cristóvão, Pedro Figueiredo, Rui Marques and Mário Ferreira. The name came from a joke about the double bass player's short stature.
With a sound blending pop and folk, they won the 2023 Globo de Ouro for Best Song with 'Na Escola', a track that in 2024 also received the aRi[t]mar award for best Portuguese song.
